about
It was sometime in the year 2015 that I sat down in my home studio in Norway and started playing around with effects on my guitar, making all these weird sounds you hear on the intro and outro (everything here is done by my guitar. No synthesizers or other instruments). I cannot explain exactly how this happens but in a creative zone, one note seems to automatically spawn the next and before I knew it, I had demoed this song called The Mourning Depths.
Some months later, Heljarmadr came to town and we had a night out with plenty of drinks. From what I remember (or think I remember), he brought up this idea of us doing a solo project split. One song each he said. I instantly thought of this demo I already had in store so for me this was a no brainer. It was very easy to say yes!
In 2016 I came to terms with the fact that my 8 years of living in Norway had come to an end. My home country, Iceland pulled me back. That`s another story. But this project was not going anywhere. Heljarmadr came to visit me in Iceland and we got my long time friend and musical coworker, Kristján Einar Guðmundsson to record drums on our songs. In August 2018 I travelled to Sweden to record guitars and bass at Heljarmadr´s place.
So as you see, this has been our little pet project for years and without any rush or hassle. It feels great though to finally see it realized.
I might very well consider continuing on my journey alone as 'Eldur'. Time will tell.
lyrics
The Mourning Depths
Runes she carves
From the mourning depths
A spell for her fallen
To rise again
A messenger comes flying
Black as the night
And sits by her side
With quivering wings
A warning song sings
The gates are shut
The strings are cut
They traveled and entered the nether
On a dragons feather
Suffering is for the hearts that beat
The secrets they bleed
And the sentence laid out for them
Pure at birth
Yet bound to earth
Hollowed by fears
Possessive tears
Their light has left
The gates are shut
Your charms betray
A web they weave
Deceive and turn
To swell this grief
But sorrow and pain
leave words in vain
By the graves
End her days
A gray, pale light
Within a maze
The strings are cut but not entwined
And sleep they shall now never find

Icelandic Viking / Black Metal. Fantastic music in the tradition of that country! I am not sure how it made it in my recommendations but I am glad it did!. Love the mix of vocals! Highly recommended!!! bmurator

Heljarmadr is the best thing to happen to Dark Funeral in recent years, and I love the single. A full length is coming (apparently), and it should be great, if this song is an indication. Frosty Bear
This experimental album was inspired by a stay in Marfa, Texas, and attempts to capture the sonic landscape of the desert. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 19, 2023
As the name might suggest, this latest LP from experimental duo Isolated Community is full of a sense of haunting uneasiness. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 24, 2023

What an impressive piece of black metal. This one-man hurricane is pure art. Sgah‘gahsowáh creates an haunting atmosphere. He puts so much soul in his music. Sælzer Bub
